The Tommy Sampson Scholarship Fund was created to honor and celebrate the life of Thomas Clayton Sampson who departed this earth much, much too soon.

This website has been designed as a source for information regarding the scholarship, the recipients, and our annual fund raisers.  For additional information on conservation, please visit www.conservation.org, www.dcmoboces.com, or www.epa.gov.

"I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use our natural resources, but I do not recognize the right to waste them, or to rob by wasteful use, the generations that come after us."
- Theodore Roosevelt, speech,  Washington, D.C., 1900

"The conservation of natural resources is the fundamental problem. Unless we solve that problem it will avail us little to solve all others."
- Theodore Roosevelt  - Address to the Deep Waterway Convention, Memphis, TN, October 4, 1907

"It is our task in our time and in our generation, to hand down undiminished to those who come after us, as was handed down to us by those who went before, the natural wealth and beauty which is ours."
- John F. Kennedy

Scholarship Information

The Tommy Sampson Scholarship benefits a graduating senior attending the Conservation program at DCMO BOCES .  This program provides education in heavy equipment operations, maintenance, aquaculture, landscape management, and forestry. Real work experience provides
students with conservation and natural resource management skills, which includes surveying, forestland regulations, management of fisheries, watershed, and sanitary systems. Basic repair and maintenance of heavy equipment and operation of bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, and excavators are some of the skills available in this program. Students also run a successful maple syrup production business. College credit is available to Conservation and Equipment Technology students.  Tommy’s passion for nature and conservation will continue to grow through our ability to provide this scholarship to a young adult with the desire to pursue this field, but lacking the financial resources to do so.

Donations for the scholarship are accepted year-round.  For more information, contact us at 570-448-2149.

A note from the Sampson Family:

"We would like to thank everyone who has helped with our benefits over the past few years by donating their time, products, and services.  It is through the kindness and generosity of friends and family that will enable this scholarship to continue for many years to come.

Words cannot express how much it means to us."
